Fine art photography

As a First Nations photographer, the history and culture of my people holds a special place in my heart I seek to tell our stories through my camera.

Growing up with a mother who is a renowned Aboriginal artist and a father whose motto was ' Why pay someone to make it? Read a book, practice and do it yourself and save money'. Being artist and creating has always been natural for me.
As I grew older I began to learn and feel the connection to my culture and the land. I learnt the importance of a balance between all living things and the importance of caring for everything.
Photography has been there all along, however my time of study has given me a deep understanding and ability to use my camera and equipment to create images that not only I love but so too do those I photograph for.
Drawing from the wisdom of my elders, I recognized the importance of reclaiming our narrative. Through my camera I set out to capture moments that reflected the true essence of Aboriginal life, dispelling stereotypes and showcasing the depth and beauty of our culture.
My camera and I have found a way to tell stories, document significant ceremonies, and community events. Photographing the land, looking for that certain angle with the light and the everyday moments that embody the resilience and spirit of Aboriginal communities.
Through my photography, I strive to amplify voices that have often been marginalized, offering an authentic portrayal of our rich heritage. It's not just about taking pictures; it's about preserving a legacy, fostering understanding, and empowering future generations to embrace their identity with pride.
In an age where digital platforms connect the world, I join a cohort of Aboriginal photographers, each contributing a unique perspective to the visual narrative of our culture. We are shaping a collective story—one that celebrates our traditions, acknowledges our struggles, and paints a holistic picture of contemporary Aboriginal life.
