  • With a mobile phone camera you can be on the ready wherever you are to capture a moment. Remember to clean your lens before you shoot.

  • If photographing a group of people discuss outfit ideas with them, if it is a family group think of the colours they are going to wear.

  • Ensure the person your photograph feels comfortable and relaxed during the photoshoot. Talk to them about what you are doing as you shoot explain any posing by demonstrating.

  • Photographers create storyboards for a photoshoot. If you want to photograph a family portrait series this helps you to know what you want them to do, for example where they will sit or stand, and different versions of them together.

  • Consider lighting, background, and angles before starting the shoot.

  • Google ideas, colors, and trending styles for inspiration.

  • Encourage natural poses and expressions to create authentic photos. This is one of the cool things about having a mobile phone, we take them every where with us so we can catch those moments that are magic.

  • Use editing tools to enhance the colors and overall look of your photos.

Some examples include Adobe lightroom, GIMP, Apple photos, Canva, Pixlr, Picsart.

With these steps, you can elevate your photography skills. I find that photography is a life long learning process that grows with you..

If you're ready to step up your photography game, start planning your next photoshoot following these guidelines.
